Feeding time (all depends on your perspective)

On our walk last weekend, we came upon this little group of birds, peacefully eating, the sparrows and the pigeons together. What they didn’t know was that a cat (that had previously come up to us for some affection) was watching them, waiting for the right time to pounce, and he did. He nearly got the dark pigeon, but it escaped, luckily. Can’t believe how agile and fast cats are when they hunt. I’m including a picture of the cat as well.

The turbulent Akerselva River–by day and by night

We were out for a walk yesterday and I took a lot of videos of the Akerselva River, which has quite high water levels now due to all the rain in September. I went back last night and filmed the river again–with help from the lights that have been set up alongside the river.

Diverging paths

This photo is representative of how my life is these days–going in different directions, detours off the main path in terms of work. But it’s all good. I have a new perspective on it all that is keeping me calm so far. Hope it lasts…

Summer greens and blues

Need a reminder of what summer can look like. Today was a beautiful day here, like this day pictured here. But it has rained way too much lately. It’s mostly gray and stormy. I conclude that summer is too short, and since it really is my favorite season, I feel cheated. So I guess it’s good to have photos to look at……

Tugboat and barge on the Hudson River

Never get tired of talking about or photographing the Hudson River. It is an amazing and beautiful river and waterway, with a lot of history. And it’s dotted with small picturesque towns, many of which have undergone extensive renovations and rehabilitation after some years of stagnation. The tugboat and barge remind me of what the river has been used for during many years–transportation of goods.

Smack in the center of Amsterdam

We didn’t eat here, but I thought it was funny to see this stand in the center of Amsterdam, right near the national museums. I wonder how the hotdogs would have tasted.

Water lily

Another photo taken at the New York Botanical Garden. Am slowly going through all my pics. I bought a set of filters from Amazon recently–4 close-up diopters at +1,+2, +4 and +10, and a CPL filter, a UV filter, and a FLD filter–a great buy–Neewer filters. The diopters are cool; I tried the +10 and it seems to work fine, so it will be interesting to see what kinds of close-up shots I will be able to take.
