Winter is not over yet

It got colder and snowed last night in Oslo, after a couple of weeks of mild weather–a taste of spring. But as always, you cannot trust March. So of course, springtime was not to be, not yet. We still have to get the  most out of winter. But the trees and bushes looked pretty with all the snow on them this morning. By the evening, it was gone from them. And this weekend is supposed to be warm, so a lot of the snow will melt.

We’ve had a fair amount of snow this year–always nice when it first falls and covers the landscape around us. This is the bridge near our home, over the Akerselva river.

Tree in snowstorm

The tree outside our bedroom window–the other day during the snowstorm. We got more snow today, a fair amount. Went out walking in it. It was nice out, not cold, difficult to walk because the sidewalks were not plowed, but good to be outdoors. Note the magpie nest to the left–the magpies use it each year to raise a new family. They are raucous but cool birds.

It snowed today and we got some accumulation. I was working  at home so I shot a few photos and a few short videos. Pretty….

Ski flying at Vikersund

We went to see the ski jumping, or in this case, the ski flying at Vikersund, a long hill for ski jumping, not so far outside of Oslo, in February. There were a lot of people there. It was a gorgeous winter day but very cold, so we froze while we were watching the competitors. Afterwards we ate dinner at a friend’s house. It was a very nice day.

Lamplight in snow

It snowed again today, and when it was dark, the lights out in our yard came on. I loved their glow against the snowy backdrop.

Snow patterns

Last week it snowed and then it started to melt. This was how the rest of the snow that did not melt looked on the tree outside our window. I thought it was kind of cool–like patches.
