Taken a little over a year ago at Rockwood Hall State Park on the Hudson River in Sleepy Hollow, New York. I grew up in Tarrytown and spent many happy days at Rockwood during the summer, but it’s just as beautiful in the wintertime.

Winter comes to Norway
At present, it is raining in Oslo, but during the past few weeks, there have been a few snowfalls with some accumulation. And to the north of Oslo, at Elverum, some hours away, there has been a fair amount of snow accumulation. So I have been happily taking photos and loving the effect of the winter sun, light and shadows on the resulting pictures. Enjoy…….

Autumn comes to Oslo
In keeping with my last post, some photos from a lovely autumn day (yesterday) here in Oslo–the sun was shining, the sky was blue–a perfect day to be out walking with my camera. I was particularly happy about capturing the rainbow created by the Akerselva river spray. A lot of people taking photos of that wondrous occurrence. Not often you see a rainbow created from water droplets dancing in the air! A living rainbow.

Tiergarten in Berlin
Tiergarten, a large public park in Berlin, is translated as ’animal garden’ because it was originally designed as a hunting area for the king in the 1500s. Tiergarten is well-described on Wikipedia at this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gro%C3%9Fer_Tiergarten, so I won’t include much more in the way of descriptions in this post. I am posting some photos I took in the garden. The day we were there was a hot sweltering summer day, and the sunlight was very strong. The photos have an unusual, almost shimmering look to them—you know it’s summertime when you take a close look at them. But the heat wasn’t unbearable, and it was in fact nice to walk in the shadows of the many trees in the garden.

An abundance of flowers
Just a pleasant reminder of summer. Such lovely colors. The weather here is actually quite mild for December, so no complaints on this end. We had some snow but then it got milder and rained, and it all melted. Going to see the Nutcracker tonight, that’s always fun and a nice way to get into the Christmas season. How are things there? Miss you.

Almost like spring today in Oslo
Lovely day today in Oslo, about 51 degrees F, blue skies, as you see here. We went for our usual Sunday walk up along the Akerselva River, and then down again through Torshov where we stopped at Kaffebrenneriet (like Starbucks) for a cappuccino and a small lunch. And then home again–back to my writing and all the other small projects that I am involved in!

Moving towards evening
Took this photo right before we went out to eat dinner at a local restaurant–around 6:30 pm or so. I loved the effect of getting the fading sunlight reflected in the windows of this building. It looked almost like the building was on fire from the inside.

Wild river water
Taken the same day I took the videos of the Akerselva river. Rushing water, wild, scary, but exhilarating.

Autumn is here
Autumn has arrived, rather abruptly if you ask me. Not much of a summer and not much of an Indian summer. It’s already quite chilly during the day and at night. But this photo was taken a week ago on one of our walks up along the Akerselva river. The trees have started to turn color, and a lot of leaves have fallen off the trees in the meantime. How is it in upstate NY?
