Winter scenery at Rockwood
Taken a little over a year ago at Rockwood Hall State Park on the Hudson River in Sleepy Hollow, New York. I grew up in Tarrytown and spent many happy days at Rockwood during the summer, but it’s just as beautiful in the wintertime.
The first bumblebee of the season
This bumblebee is a tree (or new garden) bumblebee; its scientific name is Bombus hypnorum (I love that name).
Stopping by a bridge on a snowy morning
To paraphrase Robert Frost—‘Stopping by woods on a snowy evening’. Last week we had a snowfall that led to some accumulation of snow, and it was exhilarating to be out in the early morning, taking pictures of the snowy trees and this bridge covered in snow, before too many other wanderers discovered the same places. The snow was heavier than usual and created some lovely patterns on the tree branches. Enjoy!!

January sunrise and rising smoke
A few days ago, I witnessed an exceptionally colorful and fiery sunrise. I snapped some photos as I often do, and right before I was to leave for work, the rising smoke contrasted against the sky looked as though it had caught fire. I got some photos of this as well.
Winter comes to Norway
At present, it is raining in Oslo, but during the past few weeks, there have been a few snowfalls with some accumulation. And to the north of Oslo, at Elverum, some hours away, there has been a fair amount of snow accumulation. So I have been happily taking photos and loving the effect of the winter sun, light and shadows on the resulting pictures. Enjoy…….

Street art in Oslo
Snapped some photos of the ever-increasing street artwork here in Oslo. Some of it is really eye-catching! Just recently watched the film ‘Exit Through the Gift Shop’ which documented the lives and activities of popular street artists like Banksy and Space Invader. I know street art is as illegal as tagging, but if I have to choose, I’ll take a wall with street art any day rather than the scrawl that passes for some kind of art. I don’t know who the artists are, but I hope you enjoy their work…..
